[journal] i got pictures in my mind
hi guys how's it going. long time no journalposting. i love summer :) like, whatever's going on, whether i'm doing well, whether i'm not--at least it's summer! hope u all are very much having a summer as well <3
recently > i have been eating a lot of hot pot. went swimming. played a tabletop rpg which was also the first time i've ever roleplayed in my life?! named my character cerulean, which is how i found out i've been pronouncing cerulean wrong all my life. went to a concert for the first time in three years (charli xcx) and it was SO fun. i was especially impressed by MOVE ME like i wasn't expecting how good that song would be live + lightning was such a good opener!! boys and boom clap were really cute lol. it was also cute seeing the crowd lose their shit the whole way through vroom vroom. anyway i screamed and lived and died to VISIONS the only song ever and soooooo fucking transcendental live, i still can't believe she performed it, one of only TWO songs from hifn like she did that for me specifically thank u... and then after a and i got mcdonald's <3

DEATHLOOP: Hey guys did u kno that um i love TIMELOOPS. yes it's cheating a bit because you get to infuse and keep loot over loops but this is where the videogame mechanic wins out over the narrative one, sorry, i love you silenced limp10. anyway i'd give this game a 4/5 maybe--i genuinely enjoyed the entire experience though i think parts of the story needed more development or could have been made more interesting, namely COLT HIMSELF lmfao, or any of colt's interactions with the other visionaries, including julianna... like. there was just not enough at STAKE!! though partly i think it was on me bc i didn't absorb information very well during the parts early on when i was terrified bc i sucked so bad and was just trying to survive lmfao. i already started a replay bc i need to better understand WENJIE and HARRIET and FRANK...
purely gameplay-wise though, i loved it 10/10 no notes, bc hello it's literally an arkane game. but also it's perfect the way you actually feel your improvement in real time as you get to know the mechanics the maps the time periods the intel the slabs and ofc as your loot improves. it definitely feels so rewarding when you stick with the game past that initial stage of sucking. like at first i was SO BAD and tried (in vain) to stealth my way through everything, and then by the end i was starting gunfights... that literally IS just the simulation of getting used to things bc uve done them a million times in a timeloop!! and video games are already the perfectttt medium for timeloops. ugh. the vibes were so immaculate... just wish i'd absorbed more about the characters lol
i did turn off multiplayer bc fuck that. although this one time i was being invaded by AI julianna with the havoc slab and she was fucking unkillable and killed me twice and then i finally defeated her but she fell off the roof and her body landed in midair out of reach for me to loot AND THEN the npcs heard our fight and came to finish me off lmfaooo i wasn't even mad it was genuinely so hilarious at that point. Like that's what timeloops are all about babey. and nobody remembers except you and the similarly timelooping rival gunning you down every time! SO TRUE.
my fave slabs were AETHER and NEXUS sorry i'm such a wimp. i really thought i'd be reliant on shift bc, you know, dishonored blink, but actually turns out when you're literally invisible you don't need to worry too much about teleporting! and i got the upgrades early on where aether doesn't cost power while you're standing still + nexus connects other people nearby so... literally easy mode.
anyway for a minute there i considered writing smth for it bc the vibes were all there but i don't really care THAT much. have the nonsensical half-formed thoughts i found in an unnamed gdoc in the morning:
GENSHIN: won the 50/50 on both kazuha and klee and still had saved fates left over <333 unfortunately i had not prefarmed for klee bc i failed to predict my own luck and now i have to wait for my philanemo mushrooms to respawn... i DID also obtain c1 heizou (I LOVE HIS CONSTELLATION DESIGN BTW T__T A DEER!!) and he's really fun to use but sorry he's on the backburner a bit while i try to build klee. how do you use klee btw. asking for a friend. not that it even matters i will be running around as her until the end of time thank u for my life. genuinely im healed.
oh, sorry, while i'm having genshin opinions for 2 seconds: no offense to all kazuha enjoyers (so everyone.) but why does he get so much freaking lore lmfaooo... mfw i'm playing mona and fischl event and suddenly find myself in a domain unearthing HIS family history... AGAIN?!?! ok sorry genshin opinions over.

BRBA REWATCH: successfully convinced t into watching BETTER CALL SAUL but she understandably wants to finish breaking bad first. we watched s4 together which was also helpful for me bc i totally forgot that damn everyone in bcs literally died huh. like i knew but i didn't KNOW know, u know? anyway. vindication for nacho varga! anyway speaking of better call saul... U GUYSSSSSSSSSS..... i'm devastasted. ok that's all
STRANGER THINGS S4: eh. i think it's so funny that this show will remember to give us a nancy-shooting-things scene every season but have no idea what to do with her character anymore... *wistfully remembering s2 nancy iconic drunk IT'S ALL BULLSHIT speech* also i've seen the scene of will crying in the car soo much already as a meme so damn i was not expecting the actual scene itself to kill me like that!! anyway like. idc about everyone else's concerns of stakes or ~unrealistic deus ex machina~ bc if they had actually killed off max after all that i would have been sooo mad! so :) good job everyone we dodged a bullet there.
